'We' calim that our CM is number 1 and has done wonders in development sectors in Gujarat State. Just check out these figures and see what he (and his gov) has done to poor and the most needy people of the state!!


* 746 Families from 10 slums have been evicted to make way for the Sabarmati River front, of which only 24 families (3.21%) have been resettled till December 2009.

* There are 163 'naturally evolved' markets in the city of Ahmedabad, where 26,737 vendors make their living by catering to 5,18,860 customers daily. Of these markets, three of them, with a total 465 vendors, have been fully evicted. Another 10 markets, with a total vendor population of 3,392 have been partly evicted.

* 27,814 families from 47 slums have been evicted since 2002 to 2009 in Ahmedabad, of which only 2,899 families (10.42%) have been resettled.

"There is a widespread eviction and displacement of poor families across Ahmedabad to make way for development projects. Thousands of families evicted for Kankaria Lake facelift, BRTS and road widening projects and some from Sabarmati River Front have been dumped in Ganesh Nagar, Piplang. There is loss of access to health and education. It has also resulted in loss of life for the aged and the very young. Today, 50 families have to share one toilet. These families are geographically fragmented and so numerically, they can be ignored in each ward. 36 trees were Chopped off on the eve of Gandhi’s birth anniversary for GANDHI MANDIR in GANDHI Nagar!!!!

The Forest Department on Friday chopped off 36 trees to make way for further construction of Mahatma Gandhi Mandir in Gandhinagar, a move that has left Gandhians fuming.

“Gandhi was for protection of environment. The mandir could have been constructed at any of the open areas in the capital. That would have saved hundreds of trees,” said senior Gandhian Aurn Buch who is also an office-bearer of Gandhinagar Residents Association. It is an irony that the tress were felled on the eve of Gandhi’s birth anniversary, he added.
About 1000 trees will be felled to make way for the mandir, according to Gandhinagar District Officer Bhavin Vyas. Many trees on the Sports Authority of India campus will also have to be chopped. As many as 4500 trees will be hacked for the mandir and the “central vista” being build from the mandir to Vidhan Sabha. The Roads and Buildings Department has already obtained the permission for this from the district forest officer.

6 Alternative Solutions for Ayodhya Issue

It is very obvious that Allahbaad High Court’s verdict on Ayodhya is not going to be the final one. There are always very strong chances that this case will reach to the Supreme Court. This means that the ‘final’ verdict will take a long time. Even after getting the ‘final’ verdict, it is going to be extremely difficult to build either a Temple or a Mosque. So does it mean that this issue will still remain sensitive…as it has been forever?

Yes, I have a strong belief that this won't be the end of it. Our Esteemed Politicians and Religious leaders will use this as an opportune topic to impose their powers! Yes, I strongly believe that this is a ‘non ending’ issue for politicians and religious leaders. So does that mean that we fall prey to such situations as closing down the city every time the Verdict has to be made? We can’t live in constant threats of violence with thousands of CRPF, Police and Army men deployed at sensitive places. Is there no end to these "politicians" and "Dharam Gurus" from taking advantage of the common man's vulnerability?



So what do we do? We can’t live in constant threats of violence with thousands of CRPF, Police and Army men deployed at sensitive places. We can’t close our offices, schools, markets etc on the day of verdict every time!!! Basically, this is just a fight for ‘piece of land’ which has been polarized with religious sentiments. Therefore let me suggest 6 alternative ways of using this land which will provide permanent solution of the issue without hurting any religious sentiments and, also can be used for betterment of people of Ayodhya.



1. Build a school for poor children who can not afford education. All expenses including hostel, school fees, books and tuition fees will be taken care of by the school authorities.

2. Build a Centre for Higher Studies in Communal Harmony and Conflict Management.

3. Build a ‘Gandhi Peace Museum’

4. Ayodhya city does not have a permanent Municipal Corporation Office hence build a permanent Municipal Corporation Office.

5. There is only one Government Hospital in Ayodhya hence build a Government Hospital.

6. Build a world class Multiplex Theatre. Every year UP Government can organize ‘Ayodhya International Peace Festival’ in this Multiplex.

(All expenses of above solutions will be taken care by Hindu Maha Sabha and Sunni Wakf Board equally)

I am sure that all readers of this article will have more creative ideas to offer.

Let us hope and pray that religious leaders of both communities will accept ‘at least one’ solution and work out implementation strategies soon.

Myanmar Elections: A mockery of Democracy

Myanmar’s first election in 20 years will be held on November 7, 2010. The military’s junta has been ruling the country since last two decades and this dicission has not come as a surprise. The fact is that junta is feeling the international condemnation for the human rights violations taken place in Myanmar over the years. Hence, in 2002, military’s junta had promised seven steps to roadmap towards disciplined – flourishing democracy in which fair and free election is the fifth step.

But it just seems to be a well scripted propaganda of military’s junta to avoid more sanctions by USA administration and to avoid immense pressure from human rights organization across the globe against its human rights violations in Myanmar.

To keep ‘democratic’ leaders out of power, Myanmar’s election commission has recently dissolved 10 political parties, including the National League for Democracy. More than 2000 political activist were under house arrest including Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, a leader who supports true democracy and also the Nobel Peace Price laureate. The Political Parties Registration Law, introduced by military’s junta, forbids electoral participation by any member of a political party who has been convicted in court.

It is pretty clear that the Myanmar Election 2010 will be a mockery of Democracy if all political leaders are not allowed to take part in peaceful political activism.

સરકારની વિકાસ ની પીપુડીને લાગ્યો વરસાદ નો ભેજ



ગુજરાત સરકાર એક વાત માં ખુબજ સક્ષમ છે - વિકાસ ની પીપુડી વગાડવામાં. આતંકવાદી હમલો થાય કે ઉતરાયણ ની ઉજવણી હોય, મોટા મંત્રી ની ધરપકડ થાય ત્યારે કે ચુંટણી નો ઢંઢેરો પીટતી વખતે, સરકાર ની વિકાસ ની પીપુડી ગાજતીજ હોય. પણ મેઘરાજા ને આ પીપુડી કાનખજુરાની માફક સતાવતી હોય તેમ તેમણે એક જ દિવસ માં એટલો વરસાદ પડ્યો કે આ પીપુડી ને ભીંજવી ને તેને ભેજ લગાવી દીધો.

માત્ર અમદાવાદ શહેર ની વાત કરીએ તો ભારે વરસાદ બાદ જીવન અસ્તવ્યસ્ત થઇ ગયું, ઘણા ના ઘરો પાણી માં સ્વાહા થઇ ગયા અને કેટલાય લોકો અધવચ્ચે અટવાઈ પડ્યા. આવી હાલત ભારે વરસાદ ને કારણે નહિ પણ અત્યંત નબળી ગટર વ્યવસ્થા ને કારણે થઇ. હજારો કરોડો રૂપિયાના રોકાણ ની વાતો કરતી સરકાર, રાજ્ય ના સૌથી મોટા શહેર માં એવી ગટર વ્યવસ્થા ના ઉભી કરી શકી જેથી વરસાદ ના પાણી નો નિકાલ થઇ શકે. અમદાવાદ માં રહેતો નાનો બાળક પણ જાણે છે કે શહેર માં બે-ત્રણ ટીપા વરસાદ પડે ત્યારે પણ મોટાભાગ ના વિસ્તારો નાના નાના ટાપુ માં ફેરવાઈ જાય છે. પણ સરકાર ને આ સમસ્યાની કોઈજ દરકાર નથી. વરસાદ ની ઋતુ ચાલુ થતા પહેલા 'સરકારી તંત્ર વરસાદ ના પાણી થી નીપટવા સજ્જ છે' એવા દાવા કરનાર સરકારી અધિકારીઓ વરસાદ આવતા જ ઘરમાં ઘુસી દાળવડા નો આનંદ માણવા લાગે છે.

અમદાવાદ ની નજીક મા આવેલું સાણદ ગામ થોડા સમય માં ખુબ પ્રચલિત બન્યું છે. સરકારે તાતા કંપની પર દયામણા હાથ મૂકી, નેનો કાર ની ફેક્ટરી સ્થાપી આપી. પણ તાજેતર માં સાણંદ અને આજુ બાજુ ના ગામો માં એટલો વરસાદ પડ્યો કે દરેક સમાચાર પત્રો અને ન્યુઝ ચેનલો પર તેના દ્રશ્યો વારવાર જોવા મળ્યા. લોકો ના ઘરો,દુકાનો અને ગામો ના ગામો પાણી માં ગરકાવ થઇ ગયા પણ એક જગ્યા ખુબજ સુરક્ષિત હતી....નેનો કાર ની ફેક્ટરી!!


અમદાવાદ હોય સાણંદ, કે પછી આખુય ગુજરાત, સરકાર કોઈપણ સંજોગો માં સારી ગટર વ્યવસ્થા ઉભી નહિ જ કરે એ વાત નિશ્ચિત છે. આથી ગુજરાત સરકાર ને આવી પરિસ્થિતિ સામે લડવા માટે ના થોડા આસાન ઉપાયો આપું છું.

૧. તાતા કંપની ને નેનો કાર ના ઉત્પાદન ને બદલે નેનો બોટ ના ઉત્પાદન માટે નિવેદન કરવું.

૨. નેનો કાર તો પાણી થી ભરપુર રસ્તાઓ ઉપર ચાલી નહિ શકે આથી નેનો બોટ ચોક્કસ વધુ લાભદાયી નીવડશે

૩. વરસાદ ના પાણી થી સૌથી વધુ નુકશાન ગરીબ લોકો જે ઝુંપડા મા રહે છે તેઓ ને થાય છે આથી નેનો બોટ નું મફત માં વિતરણ સરકારે કરવું જોઈએ

૪. મફત બોટ નું વિતરણ, ગુજરાત ના બ્રાંડ એમ્બેસડર શ્રી અમિતાભ બચ્ચ્ચને કરવું જોઈએ.

૫. આ નેનો બોટ નું નામ 'વાયબ્રન્ટ બોટ' રાખવું.

આશા છે કે સરકાર 'સાડા પાંચ કરોડ' ગુજરાતીઓ માટે આટલું તો ચોક્કસ કરશે.

ડાઘ્યા કુતરાએ કર્યો સુપ્રીમ માં માનહાની નો દાવો

દિલ્લી: તાજેતર માં રાષ્ટ્રીય સ્તર ના નેતાઓ એક બીજા ને કુતરા ની સાથે સરખામણી કરી એ વાત ને ડાઘ્યા કુતરા એ અત્યંત ગંભીરતા થી લઇ ને, સુપ્રીમકોર્ટ માં આ નેતાઓ વિરુદ્ધ માનહાની નો દાવો માંડ્યો છે. એક ખાનગી ન્યૂઝ ચેનલ ને એક્સક્લુસીવ ઇન્ટરવ્યુ આપતા ડાઘ્યા કુતરા એ પોતાનો રોષ વ્યક્ત કર્યો હતો.


ડાઘ્યા કુતરા એ ભારપૂર્વક કહ્યું કે ' રાષ્ટ્રીય સ્તર ના નેતાઓ, કૂતરાની જાત ને બદનામ કરવા માટે પોતાની સાથે સરખમણી કરી રહ્યા છે. કૂતરાની જાત ને બદનામ કરવાની અને તેમના સ્વાભિમાન ને ઢેસ પહોચાડવાનું આ એક રાષ્ટ્રીય સ્તર નું ષડયંત્ર છે'. તેમણે ઉમેર્યું કે 'આપણા કૂતરાની જાત ને રાજનીતિ સાથે કશું લેવા દેવાનું નથી. આપણે કદી કમળ ઝાલી શકવાના નથી, આપને કદી કોઈ ની સાથે પંજો લડવાના નથી, સાઇકલ કે હાથી પર બેસવાનું તો વિચારો પણ નહિ. આમછતાં પણ આ રાજનેતાઓ આપણી સરખામણી તેઓ ની સાથે કરી સમાજ માં વસતા દરેક કુતરાનું અપમાન કરી રહ્યા છે.'

અપમાનજનક સરખામણી ને વાખોડતા તેમણે ઉમેર્યું કે કુતરાઓ અને રાજકીયનેતાઓ વચ્ચે જમીન આસમાન નો તફાવત છે. કુતરાઓ નો સમાજ કોઈ પણ જાતી કે ધર્મ માં વિભાજીત નથી, અત્યાર સુધી કુતરાઓ કોઈપણ ભ્રષ્ટાચાર કે કાંડ માં શામિલ થયા નથી. દરેક કુતરાઓ સર્વસંમતી થી 'વિસ્તારોના વિભાજન કાયદા' હેઢળ પોતપોતાના વિસ્તારો માં શાંતિ થી જીવી રહ્યા છે અને એ માટે કોઈપણ જાત ની ચુંટણી યોજાતી નથી. વિશ્વમાં મિત્રતા અને વફાદારી માટે કુતરાઓ ની મિસાલ આપવા માં આવે છે જયારે રાજકીય નેતાઓ દર વર્ષે પોતાના પક્ષો બદલી વફાદારી નામ ના શબ્દ ને વગોવે છે. સદીઓ થી કુતરાઓ નું એક માત્ર લક્ષ્ય 'ખાવાનું, સુવાનું, ભસવાનું અને રક્ષણ કરવાનું' રહેલું છે જયારે રાજકીય નેતાઓ નું કોઈ લક્ષ્ય હોતું નથી, માત્ર ચુંટણી પ્રચાર માં કોઈ વખત ભસી લે છે.

સુરક્ષા ની નીતિઓ પર ન પ્રશ્નો નો જવાબ આપતા તેમણે જણાવ્યું કે 'સદીઓ થી કુતરાઓ લાખો અજાણ્યા લોકો ને કરડી ને જનતા ને સુરક્ષા આપી રહ્યા છે. જે કુતરાઓ નું માનવજાતી પર ઋણ છે. જયારે રાજકીય નેતાઓ પોતાનો સંપૂર્ણ સમય એક બીજાને કરડવ માં બગડતા રહ્યા છે જેથી આમ લોકો ની સુરક્ષાની સંપૂર્ણ જવાબદારી શેરી અને ઘરમાં રહેતા કુતરાઓ પર આવી ગઈ છે.

તેમણે એવી દલીલ પણ કરી કે કુતરાને મતાધિકાર પણ નથી કે ચુંટણી ઢંઢેરા માં કુતરાને કોઈ પણ જાત ના લાભો ની જોગવાઈ હોતી નથી. આ ઉપરાંત, અમારા સમાજ ના કેટલાક કુશળ કુતરાઓ નેતાઓ ની સુરક્ષા માટે પોતાની સુંઘવાની શક્તિ નો ઉપયોગ નિસ્વાર્થ પણે કરતા આવ્યા છે. આટલા બધા ઉપકારો કર્યા છતાય કુતરાઓ ની સરખામણી રાજયકીય નેતા સાથે કરી તેમનું ઘોર અપમાન કરવામાં આવે છે.

ડાઘ્યા કુતરાએ ભારત દેશ ના દરેક કુતરાઓ ને આ ષડયંત્ર વિરુદ્ધ એક થઇ લડવાનું આહવાન કર્યું હતું અને શ્વાન જાગરણ અભિયાન હેઠળ જુંબેશ ચાલવાનું પણ જણાવ્યું હતું.

ગાંધી 'મંદિર' માં


સૌ પ્રથમ તો, અહિંસા અને સર્વધર્મ સમભાવ માં માનનારા એવા ગાંધીજી વિષે સરકારે કશું કરવાની પહેલ કરી એ માટે તેમને અભીનંદન. ગાંધીજી ની યાદ માં ગુજરાત સરકાર ૧૫૦ કરોડ રૂપિયા ખર્ચી ને 'મહાત્મા મંદિર' બનાવવાનું આયોજન કરી રહ્યું છે. ગાંધીજી ના દર્શન અત્યાર સુધી અનેક મુઝ્યમો, ગાંધી આશ્રમ તેમજ 'સત્ય ના પ્રયોગો' ચોપડી માં થતા હતા અને હવે ગાંધીજી ના દર્શન 'મંદિર' માં થશે. આ વાત મારા માટે આઘાતજનક વાત છે.

દરેક ધર્મે ને સરખા માનનાર ગાંધીજી 'દરેક ના બાપુ' હતા અને દુનિયા તેમને રાષ્ટીય નેતા તરીકે ઓળખે છે, હિંદુ નેતા તરીકે નહિ. ગાંધીજી ને મંદિર માં ચણવું એ મારા માટે ગાંધીજી નું અપમાન છે. મને દુખ એ વાતનું છે કે ગાંધીજી ને 'મંદિર' માં મુકવામાં આવે છે.

'મહાત્મા મંદિર' ને બદલે 'મહાત્મા મ્યુઝમ' અથવા મેમોરીઅલ બનાવ્યું હોત તો મને ખુશી થાત. ઘણા મિત્રો એવી દલીલ કરશે કે એમાં વાંધો શું છે? ગાંધીજી નું મંદિર બને તો શું ખોટું છે? એવા પ્રશ્નો નો જવાબ હું માત્ર પ્રશ્નો દ્વારા આપીશ કે જો સરકાર 'મહાત્મા મંદિર' ને બદલે 'મહાત્મા ચર્ચ', 'મહાત્મા મસ્જીદ' કે 'મહાત્મા ગુરુદ્વારા' બનવવાનું નક્કી કરે તો? શું તમે તો પણ એવુ જ કેશો કે એમાં શું વાંધો?

મેં ગાંધીજી વિષે પ્રાથમિક ધોરણ માં ઈતિહાસ ની ચોપડી માં થોડું વાંચ્યું છે, એકાદ બે ગાંધીજી વિષે ની ફિલ્મો જોઈ છે માટે ગાંધીજી વિષે વધુ જાણકારી નથી પણ એક વાત હું દ્રઢ રીતે માનું છું કે ગાંધીજી ની યાદો ને મંદિર માં ના મૂકી શકાય. ગાંધીજી એક ધર્મનિરપેક્ષ અને સામાન્ય લોકો ના માણસ હતા. ગાંધીજી ને મંદિર માં મુકવાનો મતલબ કે તેમને રાષ્ટ્રીય નેતા માંથી 'હિંદુ નેતા' નો નવો દરજ્જો આપવો.

છેલ્લે, મારા મિત્રો મને 'ગુજરાત વિરોધી' કહે એ પેલા મને, સ્વ. રમેશભાઈ પારેખ ની ગાંધીજી પરની કવિતા ની એક પંક્તિ યાદ આવે છે. 'બાપુ એ કહ્યું' નામ ની કવિતા માં રમેશભાઈ બાપુ સાથે ના સંવાદ માં કહે છે કે....


"બાપુ, અહી ખાદી અને ગાદી ની છત છે,

પણ પાણી ની અછત છે

અહી લોકો તમારા ફોટાવાળી ટપાલ ટીકીટ પાછળ,

પાણી ને બદલે થુંક લગાવી ને,

હજારો ગેલન પાણી ની બચત કરે છે.

બાપુ, અહી ખાદી અને ગાદી ની છત છે,

પણ પાણી ની અછત છે"


જો ગાંધીજી જીવતા હોત તો, ગુજરાત સરકાર ને ૧૫૦ કરોડ રૂપિયા પોતાના મંદિર કરતા,તરસ્યા ગામડાઓ માટે પાણી પૂરું પાડવા પાછળ ખર્ચ કરવાનું કહેત. અને એ ખાતર ચોક્કસપણે સત્યાગ્રહ પણ કરત.
